beherenow is a fitness space/community in Capitol Hill (with a second location just opened at West Canal Yards).

Early 2025, we connected with the owner, Jen via an instagram ad. Let me tell you, she is SOMETHING SPECIAL. She started bhn a year prior to our connection, and it has been endlessly inspiring to see her at work as a business owner, leader, human, and visionary. We were promoting a few different packages, and we landed on one of my personal favorites. A package for a brand story and 20 reels.

If you look at the beherenow instagram you’ll see it looks amazing - including gorgeous reels which we filmed on a Saturday while simultaneously capturing some unbelieveably rich interviews with members of the community. To be clear, their insta looks amazing because jen is really talented aesthetically, which wont suprise you if you’ve seen either of their locations. Also they work often with my fave photographer in Seattle, David Jaewon Oh, whose work is seen all over their grid. Fanboi moment was when he recently grabbed a few pics of me!

Something important to take into consideration when collaborating with busy business owners, is - the human’s capacity.

We got the deposit, plan, and film days in place, then I sent Jen a giant list with ideas for the 20 reels, and a posting schedule we had layed out. She told me that was too much for her, so we pivoted from 20 structured reel ideas, to getting her 20 clips of b-roll from her vibrant community. There is something indescribable about beherenow, and after I had taken the time to see that, I knew that was the right call. Show people what it’s like.

“Tell people the story by showing them the story” is a filmmaking and marketing tip I am always returning to.
